About Bank Statements Converter

Bank Statements Converter turns PDF bank and credit card statements into spreadsheets and accounting files, for free, without ever uploading your documents.

Why it exists

Banks are happy to give you a PDF, but a PDF is a picture of a table, not data you can work with. Accountants, bookkeepers, small-business owners and anyone doing a budget end up copying, pasting and retyping transactions, or uploading highly sensitive documents to services they know nothing about. We wanted a converter that is accurate, free to use and private by design, so you never have to choose between convenience and keeping your financial data to yourself.

How it works

When you add a statement, your browser opens it with PDF.js, Mozilla's open-source PDF engine. Our code then looks at the position of every word on each page, finds the transaction table's column headings in any of several languages, assigns each word to a column, joins descriptions that wrap onto several lines, and works out dates, amounts and signs. Where the statement prints a running balance, every row is re-added to check that nothing was missed. Scanned statements can optionally be read with Tesseract OCR, which also runs inside your browser.

All of this happens on your device. There is no server receiving your files: you can open your browser's developer tools and watch the network panel while converting to see for yourself.

How the site is funded

The converter is free with no limits. We cover our costs by showing advertisements on the site. Because the heavy lifting is done by your browser, running the converter costs us very little, which is what makes a genuinely free tool possible.

Independence

We are not affiliated with any bank, card issuer or accounting software company. Bank and product names are used only to describe which statements and file formats the tool works with.
