The short version
- Your statements are never uploaded. PDFs are opened and converted by code running in your own browser. We never receive, see or store the files, their contents, or any PDF password you type.
- Converted files are created on your device and saved directly to it.
- Like most websites, we use advertising and may use analytics, which involve cookies set by third parties. Details are below.
Bank statements and converted data
When you add a PDF to the converter, it is read into your browser's memory and processed there using PDF.js. The extracted transactions are displayed in the page and, when you choose to download, written to a file on your device. None of this data is transmitted to bank-statements-converter.online or any third party. When you close or reload the page, the data is discarded. We do not use cookies or local storage to keep your transactions.
Optional OCR for scanned statements
If you choose to run OCR on a scanned statement, your browser downloads the open-source Tesseract OCR engine and English language data from the jsDelivr public content delivery network (cdn.jsdelivr.net). These requests reveal your IP address and browser details to those providers, as any web request does, but your document is not sent. Recognition runs locally in your browser.
Information collected automatically
Our hosting provider may record standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the time of the request, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. These logs do not contain your statements.
Advertising
We show ads to keep the converter free. Ads may be served by Google AdSense and its partners. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, and learn more about how Google uses data at How Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info. Where required by law, for example for visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, you will be asked for consent before personalised ads or non-essential cookies are used, and you can change your choice at any time.
Analytics
We may use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, for example which pages are visited and whether a conversion succeeded. We record only general events such as "file converted" with the number of rows and pages. We never send file names, descriptions, amounts or any statement content to analytics. Analytics uses cookies, which you can block in your browser or decline through the consent banner where one is shown.
Cookies
The converter itself does not need cookies. Cookies on this site come from advertising and analytics providers as described above. You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings; the converter will continue to work.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under the GDPR, UK GDPR and California law (CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of personal data, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for advertising. Because we do not collect your statements or create user accounts, we hold very little personal data about you. Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
