About Commerzbank statements
Commerzbank is a Frankfurt-headquartered bank serving private and business customers in Germany, and it also runs the comdirect brand.
Commerzbank sends monthly or weekly Kontoauszüge to the electronic Postfach as PDFs. With weekly statements there is none in the last week of the year; a year-end statement is issued instead, so the first statement of the new year holds no prior-year bookings. Entries are in German with comma decimals, and the purpose text (Verwendungszweck) can wrap over several lines.
Typical Germany statement headings and where they go in your export:
| On the statement | In your export |
|---|---|
| Buchungstag | Description |
| Wertstellung | Ignored (posting / value date) |
| Buchungstext | Description |
| Verwendungszweck | Description |
| Soll | Debit (and negative Amount) |
| Haben | Credit (and positive Amount) |
Also known as Commerzbank AG and comdirect.
How to download your Commerzbank statement as a PDF
- In the Banking App, tap 'Profil' in the navigation bar.
- Open 'Postfach'; documents are sorted by date.
- In Online Banking, open the Postfach and filter by account or card.
- Open the statement and save the PDF.
Commerzbank says documents are kept in the Postfach for 10 years, and statements for the last ten years can be reordered for a fee. Documents from a closed product move to 'ehemalige Produkte' for up to two years.
Menu names can change between app and website versions.
Commerzbank CSV and Excel downloads vs converting the PDF
Online Banking's 'PDF / CSV' button above the transaction list exports up to 12 months of transactions as CSV or PDF. Commerzbank notes this export is not a full account statement, so the Postfach PDFs remain the record for older months.
Converting the PDF statement is useful when you need periods outside that window, an account that is closed, or the exact figures printed on the official statement, including the running balance for reconciliation.
Tips for converting Commerzbank statements
- The CSV export only reaches back 12 months; for older periods, convert the Postfach PDFs and export them as CSV or Excel instead.
- If you receive weekly statements, add a whole year of PDFs at once; the converter combines them into one file, ending with the year-end statement.
- Wrapped Verwendungszweck lines are joined, so each SEPA payment ends up as one row with its full reference text.
Importing Commerzbank transactions into accounting software
For DATEV, Lexware Office (lexoffice) and sevDesk, export CSV or OFX after checking the preview. Amounts are written as plain numbers without the € sign, so they import cleanly as values.

Frequently asked questions
How do I find my Commerzbank Kontoauszug in the app?

Can I export Commerzbank transactions to CSV?
Yes. In Online Banking, open the transaction overview, click 'PDF / CSV', choose 'Umsätze exportieren', set the filters and export as CSV. The range covers up to 12 months, and Commerzbank points out it isn't a complete statement; for older periods, convert the Postfach PDFs.
