About Allied Irish Banks statements
AIB (Allied Irish Banks) is a Dublin-headquartered bank offering personal and business current accounts, savings and mortgages.
AIB current account statements list transactions under Date, Details, Debit €, Credit € and Balance €. The opening line, Balance Forward, repeats the closing balance of the previous statement. Details often begin with a short code: POS for a card payment, EFT for an incoming electronic transfer, DD for a direct debit and S/O for a standing order. Any agreed overdraft limit is printed on the statement.

How to download your AIB statement as a PDF
- In the AIB app, go to 'Statements', then 'Account statements'.
- Select the statement and tap the share icon to save or copy it.
- Need a current one? Tap 'Order a statement today', usually ready next working day.
- In Internet Banking, open the statements area, then choose the account and date.
AIB says up to seven years of eStatements are available online, including in the app.
Menu names can change between app and website versions.
AIB CSV and Excel downloads vs converting the PDF
Internet Banking's 'Historical Transactions' screen exports to a CSV file that opens in Excel. AIB says you can search two years of transactions and enter date ranges reaching back seven years. Statements are PDFs, needed when you want the official layout.
Converting the PDF statement is useful when you need periods outside that window, an account that is closed, or the exact figures printed on the official statement, including the running balance for reconciliation.
Tips for converting AIB statements
- AIB prints separate Debit € and Credit € columns; the converter maps both and also builds a signed Amount column, which some accounting tools prefer.
- Codes such as POS, EFT, DD and S/O at the start of Details go into the Reference column, and the Balance Forward line gives the balance check its starting figure.
Importing AIB transactions into accounting software
For Xero, Sage, QuickBooks and Big Red Cloud, export CSV or OFX after checking the preview. Amounts are written as plain numbers without the € sign, so they import cleanly as values. Step-by-step help: Xero, QuickBooks.

Yes. Internet Banking's 'Historical Transactions' screen, in the Accounts menu, exports the listed transactions to a CSV file that opens in Excel. For a spreadsheet that mirrors an actual statement, with Balance Forward and the running balance, convert the eStatement PDF instead.
