How to convert a bank statement to Excel or CSV
- Add your PDF statements. Drag one or more PDF bank or credit card statements into the converter, or click to choose them. Password-protected files ask for the password, which is used only on your device.
- Check the preview. Transactions appear in an editable table with dates, descriptions, money in, money out and balance. The balance check flags any row that does not add up, so you can fix it in a click.
- Download Excel or CSV. Export to Excel (.xlsx), CSV, OFX or JSON, or copy the table straight into Google Sheets. Nothing is uploaded at any point.

Why card statements need special handling
Credit card statements look like bank statements but follow different conventions. Charges are usually printed as plain positive numbers, while payments and refunds carry a minus sign, parentheses or a CR marker. Many issuers show two dates per line, the transaction date and the date it posted, and there is rarely a running balance after each transaction. A generic PDF converter either loses the signs or treats the posting date as part of the description.
This converter detects card statements from their typical wording, such as credit limit, minimum payment and payment due date, and applies card rules automatically:
- Unsigned charges become money out (negative Amount).
- Lines with a minus sign, parentheses or CR become money in: payments, refunds, cashback and credits.
- The transaction date is kept and the posting date is skipped.
- Descriptions that wrap onto a second line are joined into one.
Expense reports and reimbursements
Converting a card statement to Excel is the fastest way to build an expense claim: filter the descriptions, mark business items,
and total them with SUMIFS. Combining several statements gives you a full year of card spending in one sheet, with a
File column showing which statement each line came from.
Importing card transactions into accounting software
Export CSV or OFX and import into the credit card account in QuickBooks or Xero. Accounting systems disagree on whether a card charge should be positive or negative, so preview a few rows after mapping. If they are reversed, use Flip signs and export again.
Checking the totals
Card statements rarely print a balance per line, so the row-by-row balance check is not available. Instead, compare the converter's Money out and Money in totals with the statement summary (purchases, payments and credits). If they match, every line was captured.

Can I convert a credit card statement PDF to Excel?
Yes. Drop the PDF into the converter and export Excel, CSV, OFX or JSON. It works with most card issuers’ digital statements, including statements with separate transaction and posting dates.
How are purchases and payments shown?
Purchases and fees are output as money out (negative Amount, in the Debit column). Payments, refunds and other credits, usually shown with a minus sign or CR on the statement, are output as money in.
What happens to the posting date column?
When a statement has both a transaction date and a posting date, the transaction date is used as the Date and the posting date is ignored, which is what most accounting and budgeting tools expect.
The signs are reversed for my software. What can I do?
Click Flip signs in the converter toolbar before exporting. Every row’s money in and money out are swapped, which suits software that treats card charges as positive increases to the balance owed.
