    About Absa Bank statements

Absa is a Johannesburg-headquartered bank within Absa Group, offering personal and business banking.

Absa eStatements arrive by email as password-protected PDF attachments, and the cover letter in the email tells you which password to use. Stamped statements can be downloaded from Online Banking or the Banking App, or printed at an Absa ATM. Transactions are listed by date with descriptions, amounts and a running balance in rand.

Typical South Africa statement headings and where they go in your export:

    Money OutDebit (and negative Amount)

Also known as Absa South Africa and Absa Group.

How to download your Absa statement as a PDF

    1. Log in to the Absa Banking App and select the account on Home.
    2. Open the Statements tab.
    3. Choose Download stamped statement (.pdf) or a regular statement.
    4. Select a date range and tap Download, accepting any charges.

Menu names can change between app and website versions.

    Absa statement PDF password

Absa does not publish one fixed password for every eStatement; its eStatement page says the cover letter in the email explains which password opens your statement.

Type the password into the converter when it asks. It is used only inside your browser to open the file and is never sent anywhere.

    Tips for converting Absa statements

    • Absa eStatements are protected PDFs. Read the cover letter for the password, type it into the converter, and the file stays in your browser.
    • App downloads may carry a fee, so download one wider date range and convert it, rather than requesting several short statements.

Importing Absa transactions into accounting software

For Sage Pastel, Xero and QuickBooks, export CSV or OFX after checking the preview. Amounts are written as plain numbers without the R sign, so they import cleanly as values. Step-by-step help: Xero, QuickBooks.
