About First National Bank statements
First National Bank (FNB) is a division of FirstRand, headquartered in Johannesburg, offering cheque, savings and credit card accounts.
FNB statements list dated transactions with descriptions, amounts and a running balance in rand. Statements generated through Online Banking, the FNB App or an ATM can carry an FNB eStamp with a reference number that a third party can check under Verify Statements for three months. Historical statements requested online are emailed as PDFs, typically within 15 minutes.

FNB CSV and Excel downloads vs converting the PDF
FNB's emailed monthly statement service has offered plain-text CSV, PDF or both; check the current choices under Email Statements. Statements from Statement History arrive as PDFs, so converting helps with archived or stamped copies.
Converting the PDF statement is useful when you need periods outside that window, an account that is closed, or the exact figures printed on the official statement, including the running balance for reconciliation.
Tips for converting FNB statements
- Converting leaves a stamped FNB statement untouched. Keep the original PDF for verification and send the spreadsheet export separately.
- Several monthly FNB statements emailed as PDFs can be combined into a single CSV or OFX file for your accounting software.
Importing FNB transactions into accounting software
For Sage Pastel, Xero and QuickBooks, export CSV or OFX after checking the preview. Amounts are written as plain numbers without the R sign, so they import cleanly as values. Step-by-step help: Xero, QuickBooks.
