About Royal Bank of Canada statements

Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) is one of Canada's 'Big Five' banks, offering chequing and savings accounts, credit cards and investment accounts.

RBC personal chequing statements open with a summary of the opening balance, total deposits, total withdrawals and closing balance. The Details of your account activity table has separate withdrawal and deposit columns and starts with an Opening balance row. Dates are printed as day and short month, such as 15 Mar, appear only on the first transaction of each day, and the balance is shown only after that day's last transaction.

How to download your RBC statement as a PDF

    1. Sign in to RBC Online Banking or the RBC Mobile app.
    2. In the app, tap More (iOS) or Menu (Android), then Statements.
    3. Choose the account; the last six statements appear automatically.
    4. Use the drop-down to pick an older period, then save the PDF.

RBC archives eStatements for up to 7 years while the account stays open and enrolled; electronic copies go back only to May 2007.

Menu names can change between app and website versions.

RBC CSV and Excel downloads vs converting the PDF

RBC Online Banking has a Download Transactions option with preset or custom date ranges and formats for spreadsheets and finance software. It is aimed at recent activity, so statements are the dependable source for earlier months.

Converting the PDF statement is useful when you need periods outside that window, an account that is closed, or the exact figures printed on the official statement, including the running balance for reconciliation.

    Tips for converting RBC statements

    • RBC prints a date only on a day's first transaction, so after converting, check that same-day rows each have their own date and amount.
    • Balances appear only at the end of each day, so the balance check is most useful at those rows; a mismatch flags a missed or mis-signed item.
    • Dates such as 15 Mar have no year. The converter fills it in from the statement period, which keeps December-to-January statements in the right order.

Importing RBC transactions into accounting software

For QuickBooks, Xero, Sage 50 and Wave, export CSV or OFX after checking the preview. Amounts are written as plain numbers without the $ sign, so they import cleanly as values. Step-by-step help: QuickBooks, Xero.

    Frequently asked questions

How far back can I get RBC eStatements?

RBC keeps up to seven years of eStatements in Online Banking and the mobile app, as long as the account is open and you remain enrolled. Only accounts switched to electronic statements show up, and RBC's electronic archive starts in May 2007, so earlier statements are not available online.

Why does my RBC statement skip dates and balances on some lines?

RBC groups each day's transactions: the date appears on the first one and the balance after the last one, while the lines in between show only a description and an amount. When converting, the year comes from the statement period, and the balance check can be read at each end-of-day balance.

Is it safe to convert my RBC statement here?

Yes. The conversion happens on your own device; your RBC statement is not uploaded, stored or shared. This site is independent and not affiliated with Royal Bank of Canada.
