About Scotiabank statements
Scotiabank, legally The Bank of Nova Scotia, is headquartered in Toronto and also owns the digital bank Tangerine.
Scotiabank chequing statements show the opening balance, total withdrawals, total deposits and closing balance near the top. The transaction list has separate columns for amounts withdrawn and amounts deposited, with a running balance in the last column. Most chequing and savings accounts receive monthly statements, and cheque images from the last 90 days can be opened online by selecting the cheque number in transaction history.

Scotiabank CSV and Excel downloads vs converting the PDF
Scotiabank online banking downloads one statement period at a time in QuickBooks format, and Quicken downloads are also offered. You must load every transaction in the period before downloading, so for long date ranges converting the statement PDFs can be quicker.
Converting the PDF statement is useful when you need periods outside that window, an account that is closed, or the exact figures printed on the official statement, including the running balance for reconciliation.
Tips for converting Scotiabank statements
- Scotiabank downloads work one statement period at a time; converting a batch of PDFs and combining them gives a full year in a single Excel file.
- Withdrawn and deposited amounts sit in separate columns, so the converter assigns signs without needing Flip signs; then run the balance check against the balance column.
Importing Scotiabank transactions into accounting software
For QuickBooks, Xero, Sage 50 and Wave, export CSV or OFX after checking the preview. Amounts are written as plain numbers without the $ sign, so they import cleanly as values. Step-by-step help: QuickBooks, Xero.
