    About Westpac Banking Corporation statements

Westpac is a Sydney-headquartered bank whose group also includes the St.George, Bank of Melbourne and BankSA brands.

Westpac eStatements open with a summary box listing the opening balance, total credits, total debits and closing balance, each written with a plus or minus sign. The transaction table follows with Date, Transaction Description, Debit, Credit and Balance columns and DD/MM/YY dates. The first row is a statement opening balance and the last is the closing balance. BPAY and Osko descriptions often wrap onto a second line, and a transaction fee summary can follow the table.

Westpac CSV and Excel downloads vs converting the PDF

Desktop Online Banking exports transactions as CSV, QBO, QIF or OFX from Overview, then Exports and reports; QBO and OFX need a single account. The app offers a transactions report instead. Westpac does not publish a maximum export range, so older periods may need the PDF statements.

Converting the PDF statement is useful when you need periods outside that window, an account that is closed, or the exact figures printed on the official statement, including the running balance for reconciliation.

    Tips for converting Westpac statements

    • Westpac prints two-digit years such as 01/07/25; the converter detects the day-first order, and Read dates as can force it if a short statement is ambiguous.
    • BPAY and Osko deposits often wrap across two lines with reference numbers; the converter joins them so each deposit stays one row with the right balance.
    • Each statement begins with a STATEMENT OPENING BALANCE row; the balance check starts from it and highlights any later row whose running balance does not reconcile.

Importing Westpac transactions into accounting software

For Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks and Reckon, export CSV or OFX after checking the preview. Amounts are written as plain numbers without the $ sign, so they import cleanly as values. Step-by-step help: Xero, QuickBooks.

    Frequently asked questions

How do I download a Westpac eStatement as a PDF?

In Online Banking, go to Overview, then Statements, pick the account under Active accounts, set a date range and select Search, then Download PDF. In the Westpac App, search Statements in Smart Search, open Statements (incl. closed accounts), choose the period and use the share icon to save it.

Can I still get statements for a closed Westpac account?

For eligible accounts, yes. Westpac keeps eStatements for closed accounts online for up to seven years, and only the original account holder can see them. In the app they appear under Statements (incl. closed accounts). Once a statement is more than seven years old it drops out of Online Banking.

Should I use Westpac's export or convert the PDF statement?

If the period is still in Online Banking, the built-in CSV, QIF, QBO or OFX export is quickest. Converting the PDF helps when you only have statements, for example files from an accountant or a closed account, and it keeps the statement's running balance so every row can be checked.

Is it safe to convert my Westpac statement here?

Yes. The conversion happens on your own device; your Westpac statement is not uploaded, stored or shared. This site is independent and not affiliated with Westpac Banking Corporation.
