    About Barclays Bank UK statements

Barclays is a British bank headquartered in London, offering personal current accounts, Barclaycard credit cards and business banking.

Barclays statements open with an 'At a glance' panel showing the statement period, start balance, money in, money out and end balance. The transaction table runs Date, Description, Money out £, Money in £ and Balance £. Rows show only the day and month (for example 8 Apr), so the year comes from the period at the top. A 'Start balance' row opens the table, 'Balance carried forward' closes it, and some entries carry a payment label such as Giro or a 'Ref:' line.

How to download your Barclays statement as a PDF

    1. In Online Banking, select 'Manage accounts', then 'Statements and documents'.
    2. In the Barclays app, open the More (or Help) menu and tap 'Statements'.
    3. Pick the account and the statement month you need.
    4. Save it with the PDF or download icon, or your browser's save option.

Barclays keeps online statements viewable for up to 7 years while the account is open, and up to 5 years for a closed account if you still bank with Barclays.

Menu names can change between app and website versions.

Barclays CSV and Excel downloads vs converting the PDF

Barclays provides statements as PDFs, and its help pages don't describe a spreadsheet export covering the statement archive. For older months the PDF is normally the only copy, so converting it is how you get rows you can sort, filter and import.

Converting the PDF statement is useful when you need periods outside that window, an account that is closed, or the exact figures printed on the official statement, including the running balance for reconciliation.

    Tips for converting Barclays statements

    • Barclays prints dates such as '8 Apr' with no year. The converter takes the year from the 'At a glance' period, including statements that run from December into January.
    • Keep 'Read dates as' on day-first. The 'Start balance' row gives the balance check its starting point, so any row that doesn't add up is highlighted.
    • Payment labels such as Giro and the 'Ref:' lines under a description go into the Reference column, which keeps the Description column readable in Excel.

Importing Barclays transactions into accounting software

For Xero, QuickBooks, Sage and FreeAgent, export CSV or OFX after checking the preview. Amounts are written as plain numbers without the £ sign, so they import cleanly as values. Step-by-step help: Xero, QuickBooks.

    Frequently asked questions

How do I download a Barclays bank statement as a PDF?

In Online Banking choose 'Manage accounts' and then 'Statements and documents'; in the app, look under the More or Help menu for 'Statements'. Open the month you need and save the PDF. Barclays says statements stay available online for up to seven years while the account is open.

Can I convert a Barclays statement to Excel or CSV?

Yes. Download the PDF statement, open it in the converter and check the preview. Dates, descriptions, money out, money in and the running balance become separate columns, and you can save the result as Excel, CSV, OFX or JSON. The file is processed in your browser and isn't uploaded anywhere.

Why don't the dates on my Barclays statement show a year?

Barclays prints only the day and month beside each transaction and shows the full period, with the year, in the 'At a glance' box. The converter uses that period to complete every date, so a statement spanning December and January gets the correct year on each row.

Is it safe to convert my Barclays statement here?

Yes. The conversion happens on your own device; your Barclays statement is not uploaded, stored or shared. This site is independent and not affiliated with Barclays Bank UK.
