    About National Westminster Bank statements

NatWest is a UK high-street bank and part of NatWest Group, which also includes Royal Bank of Scotland.

NatWest statements show a summary with the period covered, previous balance, total paid in, total withdrawn and new balance. The table uses Date, Description, Paid In(£), Withdrawn(£) and Balance(£). Only the opening BROUGHT FORWARD line carries a full date with the year; later dates show day and month (05 MAY), printed once per day. Descriptions often run over two or three lines, ending with payment references.

How to download your NatWest statement as a PDF

    1. Sign in to NatWest Online Banking in a web browser.
    2. Choose 'Statements & transactions' from the menu bar, then the account.
    3. Use the year dropdown to find the statement you need.
    4. Open it; the PDF downloads according to your browser settings.

NatWest Online Banking holds up to seven years of account statements. Other personal account mail stays in the 'Mailbox' for up to two years.

Menu names can change between app and website versions.

NatWest CSV and Excel downloads vs converting the PDF

Using 'Search transactions' under Statements, Online Banking can export a filtered list to Excel or PDF. NatWest's software list also names OFX files for Microsoft Money, Quicken and Sage Line 50, plus CSV. Credit card exports cover about three months.

Converting the PDF statement is useful when you need periods outside that window, an account that is closed, or the exact figures printed on the official statement, including the running balance for reconciliation.

    Tips for converting NatWest statements

    • Only the BROUGHT FORWARD line shows a year. The converter completes the other dates from the statement period, including periods that cross from December into January.
    • Same-day transactions share one printed date and long descriptions wrap over several lines. The converter joins wrapped text; run the balance check to confirm every row reconciles.
    • If an overdrawn balance carries an OD marker, the converter treats it as negative, so the Balance column stays correct in Excel and OFX exports.

Importing NatWest transactions into accounting software

For Xero, QuickBooks, Sage and FreeAgent, export CSV or OFX after checking the preview. Amounts are written as plain numbers without the £ sign, so they import cleanly as values. Step-by-step help: Xero, QuickBooks.

    Frequently asked questions

How do I download a NatWest statement as a PDF?

Sign in to Online Banking, choose 'Statements & transactions', select the account and pick the year from the dropdown. Opening a statement downloads it as a PDF, which you can save or print. NatWest keeps up to seven years of statements available there.

Can I export NatWest transactions to Excel?

Yes, for searched transactions: go to Statements, choose 'Search transactions', filter by date, type or amount, and export to Excel or PDF. For a complete statement with its running balance, or for older periods, convert the PDF statement into Excel, CSV or OFX instead.

Why is there no year next to most NatWest transactions?

NatWest prints the year on the opening BROUGHT FORWARD line and then shows just the day and month for each group of transactions. The converter fills in the year from the statement period, so exported dates are complete and sort correctly.

Is it safe to convert my NatWest statement here?

Yes. The conversion happens on your own device; your NatWest statement is not uploaded, stored or shared. This site is independent and not affiliated with National Westminster Bank.
