    About Halifax statements

Halifax is a UK banking brand within Lloyds Banking Group, named after the West Yorkshire town where it began as a building society.

Halifax produces a PDF statement for each monthly period, and both Internet Banking and the app can open them. Internet Banking reaches back about seven years, while Halifax says the app gives immediate access to at least ten years, so older months are often quicker to fetch on a phone. The first page carries the statement period and the opening and closing balances the transactions should reconcile to.

Typical United Kingdom statement headings and where they go in your export:

    On the statementIn your export
    DateDate
    Payment typeReference
    DescriptionDescription
    Paid outDebit (and negative Amount)
    Paid inCredit (and positive Amount)
    Money outDebit (and negative Amount)

Also known as Halifax Bank and Halifax UK.

How to download your Halifax statement as a PDF

    1. Log in to the Halifax app and open the account.
    2. Tap the download icon above your latest transactions.
    3. Choose the month and year, then save the PDF to your device.
    4. In Internet Banking, open the account and look for its statements option.

Halifax's help centre says Internet Banking gives access to statements up to seven years old and the app at least ten years, although another Halifax page quotes seven years of transactions in the app.

Menu names can change between app and website versions.

    Tips for converting Halifax statements

    • Since the app reaches further back than Internet Banking, use it for statements older than seven years, then combine the PDFs into one spreadsheet in the converter.
    • After converting, run the balance check against the opening and closing balances on page one; any row that does not reconcile is highlighted for review.

Importing Halifax transactions into accounting software

For Xero, QuickBooks, Sage and FreeAgent, export CSV or OFX after checking the preview. Amounts are written as plain numbers without the £ sign, so they import cleanly as values. Step-by-step help: Xero, QuickBooks.
