About Ally Bank statements
Ally Bank is an online-only bank owned by Ally Financial, offering checking, savings, money market and CD accounts without a branch network.
Ally Bank sends one statement a month for Interest Checking, Savings and Money Market accounts, and quarterly statements for CDs and IRAs. A statement typically summarizes the period's opening and closing balances and interest earned, then lists each transaction with its date, description and amount. Because Ally has no branches, most entries are transfers, ACH items, card purchases and interest rather than counter deposits.

Ally CSV and Excel downloads vs converting the PDF
From Transactions History, Ally lets you download activity as CSV or Quicken (QFX), and online banking shows up to 18 months of activity. Older months are only available in the statements.
Converting the PDF statement is useful when you need periods outside that window, an account that is closed, or the exact figures printed on the official statement, including the running balance for reconciliation.

- Ally CDs and IRAs are statemented quarterly, so each file covers three months; combine the quarterly PDFs into one workbook with a sheet per statement.
- Ally's CSV export stops at the 18-month online window; for earlier months, convert the monthly PDFs and export OFX for your accounting software.
