    About Truist Bank statements

Truist is a bank headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, formed through the merger of BB&T and SunTrust.

Truist checking statements usually open with an account summary showing the starting balance, total deposits and credits, total withdrawals and debits, and the ending balance. Transactions are then grouped by type, for example checks, other withdrawals and debits, and deposits and credits, rather than shown as one running ledger. Each group lists dates and amounts with a subtotal, and a daily balance listing may follow.

Typical United States statement headings and where they go in your export:

Also known as SunTrust, BB&T and Truist Financial.

How to download your Truist statement as a PDF

    1. Sign in at truist.com or in the Truist app.
    2. Select Documents (in the app, it sits under More).
    3. Choose the account and the statement period.
    4. Open the statement and save the PDF.

Truist keeps paperless statements for up to 7 years for deposit accounts and up to 2 years for credit cards; the exact window for each product is shown under Documents.

Menu names can change between app and website versions.

Truist CSV and Excel downloads vs converting the PDF

Truist offers download services into Quicken and QuickBooks. Pending items are left out, and Truist describes downloaded data as for tracking only, with its statements as the official record of transactions and balances.

Converting the PDF statement is useful when you need periods outside that window, an account that is closed, or the exact figures printed on the official statement, including the running balance for reconciliation.

    Tips for converting Truist statements

    • Because Truist groups transactions by type, converted rows are not in date order; sort by the Date column in Excel after exporting if you need a chronological list.
    • Truist treats its statements as the official record, so when a software download and a statement disagree, convert the PDF and compare its totals with the statement summary.

Importing Truist transactions into accounting software

For QuickBooks, Xero, Quicken and Wave, export CSV or OFX after checking the preview. Amounts are written as plain numbers without the $ sign, so they import cleanly as values. Step-by-step help: QuickBooks, Xero.

    Frequently asked questions

How long does Truist keep statements online?

Truist says paperless statements for deposit accounts stay available for up to seven years and credit card statements for up to two years. Some products, such as mortgages, have shorter windows. The Documents section of Truist online banking shows how far back each of your accounts goes.

Can I download Truist transactions into QuickBooks?

Truist supports downloading account information into Quicken and QuickBooks, but pending transactions are excluded and the files are meant for tracking rather than as an official record. When you need older months, or a file an accountant can tie back to the statement, convert the Truist PDF to CSV or OFX.

Is it safe to convert my Truist statement here?

Yes. The conversion happens on your own device; your Truist statement is not uploaded, stored or shared. This site is independent and not affiliated with Truist Bank.
