About Wells Fargo Bank statements
Wells Fargo is a U.S. bank offering checking and savings accounts, credit cards, mortgages and business banking through branches in many states.
Wells Fargo checking statements put all activity in one Transaction history table. Each row has a date, an optional check number, a description, and the amount in either a Deposits/Credits or a Withdrawals/Debits column. The Ending daily balance column is filled in only on the last transaction of each day. Some recent statements label the amount columns Additions and Subtractions instead.

Wells Fargo CSV and Excel downloads vs converting the PDF
Download Account Activity offers a comma-delimited spreadsheet file as well as Quicken and QuickBooks formats. Checking and savings history goes back about 18 months, and credit card history only 90 days or 300 transactions, so older periods need the PDF statements.
Converting the PDF statement is useful when you need periods outside that window, an account that is closed, or the exact figures printed on the official statement, including the running balance for reconciliation.
Tips for converting Wells Fargo statements
- Wells Fargo prints a balance only after the last item of each day, so judge the balance check by those day-end rows rather than by every line.
- Numbers in the Check Number column are moved to the Reference column, keeping descriptions clean and making cleared checks easy to filter.
- When a tax return or loan file needs more than 18 months, combine several years of PDF statements into one Excel workbook with a sheet per statement.
