    About Discover statements

Discover is known for its cashback credit cards, such as Discover it, which run on its own card network, and it also offers online savings and checking accounts through Discover Bank.

Discover card statements open with an account summary and payment information, followed by the transaction list. Payments and credits are listed apart from purchases, and many purchases carry a merchant category label such as restaurants or supermarkets. Each line shows a transaction date, description and amount. Interest and fees appear in their own sections together with the year-to-date totals that card statements include.

Typical United States statement headings and where they go in your export:

Also known as Discover Card, Discover it and Discover Bank.

How to download your Discover statement as a PDF

    1. Log in to your account at discover.com.
    2. Open the statements section from the account menu.
    3. Choose the statement period.
    4. Download or save the PDF.

Menu names can change between app and website versions.

Discover CSV and Excel downloads vs converting the PDF

Discover.com shows up to about 24 months of transactions through its Recent Activity and statement pages, and card accounts can be connected to Quicken and QuickBooks. For anything older, or if you only kept the PDFs, converting statements is the practical route.

Converting the PDF statement is useful when you need periods outside that window, an account that is closed, or the exact figures printed on the official statement, including the running balance for reconciliation.

    Tips for converting Discover statements

    • Discover statements are recognised as card statements, so purchases are exported as money out, while payments and Cashback Bonus credits come out as money in.
    • If dates show only month and day, the converter fills in the year from the statement period, so statements that cross from December into January stay correct.

Importing Discover transactions into accounting software

For QuickBooks, Xero, Quicken and Wave, export CSV or OFX after checking the preview. Amounts are written as plain numbers without the $ sign, so they import cleanly as values. Step-by-step help: QuickBooks, Xero.
