About Capital One statements
Capital One is headquartered in McLean, Virginia, and is known for credit cards such as Venture and Quicksilver as well as its 360 checking and savings accounts.
Capital One credit card statements typically start with an account summary (previous balance, payments, other credits, transactions, fees and interest) and a payment information box. Activity follows, with payments and credits kept apart from new purchases, and purchases may be grouped by card user. Most lines carry both a transaction date and a post date. Checking and savings statements are simpler, listing the month's activity in date order.

How to download your Capital One statement as a PDF
- Sign in at capitalone.com and click the account.
- Click View statements.
- Choose the statement month and download the PDF.
- In the mobile app, tap the account, scroll to the bottom and tap Statements.
Capital One says up to 7 years of statements can be viewed online for active accounts, while the website transaction list covers about two years.
Menu names can change between app and website versions.
Capital One CSV and Excel downloads vs converting the PDF
The website shows roughly two years of transactions, and card accounts generally offer a download to spreadsheet or Quicken/QuickBooks files. Anything older than that window has to come from the PDF statements, which go back up to seven years.
Converting the PDF statement is useful when you need periods outside that window, an account that is closed, or the exact figures printed on the official statement, including the running balance for reconciliation.
Tips for converting Capital One statements
- Statements reach back seven years but online activity only about two, so convert the older PDFs to fill the gap and combine them into one file per tax year.
- When a card statement shows both a transaction date and a post date, the converter keeps the transaction date and ignores the posting column.
- Capital One card statements are recognised as card statements, so purchases export as money out and payments as money in; use Flip signs only if your bookkeeping wants the opposite.
Importing Capital One transactions into accounting software
For QuickBooks, Xero, Quicken and Wave, export CSV or OFX after checking the preview. Amounts are written as plain numbers without the $ sign, so they import cleanly as values. Step-by-step help: QuickBooks, Xero.

Frequently asked questions
How many years of Capital One statements can I see online?
Capital One says active accounts can view up to seven years of statements online, and paperless statements need to be turned on to view them on the website or app. The online transaction history is shorter, about two years, so statements are the place to look for older activity.
Can I export Capital One transactions to Excel?
For recent activity, the Capital One website shows about two years of transactions, and card accounts generally offer a download in a spreadsheet-friendly format. For statements older than that, or when you only have the PDFs, the converter turns the statements into Excel or CSV files.
Is it safe to convert my Capital One statement here?
